MyBromley, One of Bromley's Biggest Independent Community Networks, Hits 136,000 Followers After 18 Years

We've hit 136,000 followers.
Honestly, when we started posting bits of local news 18 years ago, we never imagined it would get this big. Back then it was a handful of people, a few posts a week, and a lot of hoping someone was reading.
Now there's 41,100 of you on Instagram, 38,500 on X, 35,000 on Facebook, nearly 7,000 on TikTok, and close to 15,000 in our Community and Business Network groups. Our posts are being seen between 5 and 7 million times a month. That still takes some getting used to.
A lot has changed along the way. We cover breaking news and traffic now, local events, free job and event posts, and we help people find sports teams to join, which has turned out to be one of the things we're proudest of. Loneliness is a real issue in the borough, and if a Sunday league side gets a new player because of us, that's a good day.
We're not the only ones doing this, either. Bromley's got some brilliant community groups. The Bromley Facebook group has been going since 2008 and has 66,000 members. Mottingham Gossip has 42,000, and The Only Way is Chislehurst has 18,000. Bromley FC has around 168,000 followers, and after the season they've had, they deserve every one.
Most of these groups are run by people doing it in their spare time, for nothing. They're up late deleting scam posts and calming down arguments about parking. It's not glamorous, but when a dog goes missing or a road gets shut, those groups get the word out faster than anyone.
So this is a thank you, really. To everyone who's followed us, shared a post, left a comment, or messaged us at 11pm to ask why there's a helicopter over Bromley South: we couldn't do any of this without you.
Here's to the next 18 years.
