Christmas is officially on its way to Bromley. The town centre's Christmas Switch-On takes place on Sunday 15 November, and once again it is free, with no tickets needed.

We have pulled together everything you need to know, from the running order to how you can nominate someone you know to switch on the lights.

Where and when

The afternoon starts at The Glades from 1pm to 2pm, before the celebrations move out on to Bromley High Street from 2pm until 6.30pm. Organisers Your Bromley, the town centre's business community, promise on-stage entertainment, roaming street performers and special guests, all building up to the big moment when the lights come on.

The running order on the High Street

The stage programme is packed with local talent, and it is lovely to see so many Bromley schools and dance groups taking part.

The host welcomes everyone at 2.05pm, followed by Parish CE Primary School (2.10pm), Valley Primary School (2.25pm), St Mark's CE Primary School (2.45pm), Danceworx (3pm), GDND Academy (3.20pm), Studio 74 (3.35pm), Skylark (3.55pm) and Vivace (4.15pm).

This year's Local Hero is introduced at 4.55pm, The Hoosiers are on at 5.20pm, the LED Drummers at 6pm and Chesney Hawkes at 6.10pm. The countdown starts at 6.25pm, with fireworks at 6.30pm.

The headliners are The Hoosiers, with their feel-good hits on the main stage, and Chesney Hawkes, who will give a live performance before joining the band and Bromley's Local Hero to lead the countdown. The evening finishes with a firework finale over the High Street.

The Christmas market

The switch-on is also a good excuse to visit the town centre Christmas market, with a festive bar, food stalls and a big wheel, plus funfair rides for younger children.

Nominate a Local Hero by Friday

Every year the lights are switched on by someone from our own community, and this is the part we love most. Your Bromley is looking for the borough's unsung hero of 2026: a volunteer, a fundraiser, a sports coach or a neighbour who goes above and beyond for the people around them.

To nominate someone, email enquiries@yourbromley.com with their name and a short note about why they deserve it. Entries close at midnight on Friday 6 November, so there is not long left.

The winner will switch on the lights with the special guests and receive a festive prize package from The Glades, the Churchill Theatre and The Pavilion. It includes a £250 donation to a charity of their choice, a £50 Marks and Spencer gift card, family tickets to the Churchill Theatre's pantomime and a three-month Pavilion membership.

If you know someone who quietly makes Bromley a better place, this is your chance to say thank you.

Planning your visit

The switch-on is busy, so give yourself extra time to get into town, and if you can, come by train or bus rather than looking for a parking space. Keep children close in the crowds, agree a meeting point in case anyone gets separated, and wrap up warm, as it gets cold quickly once the sun goes down. Times can change on the day, so check yourbromley.com before you set off.

More festive dates for the diary

Once the lights are on, the Churchill Theatre's pantomime, Sleeping Beauty, runs from Saturday 5 December to Sunday 3 January.

We will be down on the High Street ourselves, and we would love to see your photos from the day. Tag us or send them in, and have a wonderful start to Christmas in Bromley.
